History of Kamishibais (After the war)


Most of the pre-war kamishibai were distroyed by the war, but in the hope that it might revive, the street kamishibai was reestablished.

Most of the kamishibai performers at that time were people who returned from war or lost their companies or houses by air raids.

The post-war work "Golden Bat" replaced the military-style kamishibai of war times,endowing the children on war-devastated fields every day with dreams.

However, it was the television broadcast beginning in 1953 (Showa 28) that stole the children's heart.
